Proficiencies is a completely new feature for MW3. A proficiency is an extra perk that goes alongside your primary weapon. A proficiency is unlocked much like an attachment is. As you level up and complete challenges with your primary weapon, different proficiencies will be unlocked for it. A list of the MW3 proficiencies is below.

MW3 Proficiency List

Kick – Reduces recoil when firing.

Info: Even though kick is the first attachment, it is the best proficiency for submachine, assault, and light machine guns…

———————————————————————–

Impact – Bullets carry more damage through materials.

Info: Do you have spidy-senses? Are you able to sense your opponents through walls? If you have a knack for shooting your enemy behind walls, doors, trashcans, etc. try this out…

———————————————————————–

Attachments – Two attachments can be added to a weapon.

Info: Some people can’t live without multiple attachments. If you used “bling” in MW2, you’re probably already in love with this proficiency…

———————————————————————–

Focus – Reduces flinch when hit.

Info: This is really a personal preference proficiency. Some people actually like the fact that when you get hit with a bullet your crosshairs go upward. You can aim at the enemy’s feet and then when they hit you it will direct your crosshairs towards your opponent’s chest or even head, giving you an easy kill. If you haven’t mastered that and can’t stand when your crosshairs go crazy after bullet damage, use the focus proficiency.

———————————————————————–

Breath – Hold breath while aiming down the sights.

Info: You’re a sniper? While thermal scopes on submachine guns do have the option to “hold breath”, the main reason for equipping this proficiency is to be able to hold your breath for a long time with the sniper. Honestly, you should be able to kill anyone with the amount of time given to scope in with a sniper, and if you can’t you probably shouldn’t be sniping. Though if you love sitting in the back of the map and picking off kids, try this out.

———————————————————————–

Stability – Reduced weapon sway while aiming down the sights.

Info: Even though kick is the first attachment, it is the best proficiency for submachine, assault, and light machine guns…

———————————————————————–

Range – Increase the range of your weapon.

Info: Increase range is a huge bonus if you’re someone who mostly stays to the outside on larger maps. Range proficiency is great for assault rifles and can be effective for submachine guns, but if you’re going to use range, mind as well use “kick” instead.

———————————————————————–

Melee – Knife other players much more quickly.’

Info: Are you someone who loves to use your blade? If so, this proficiency is for you. Though if you’re not OnlyUseMeBlade (who gets kills solely by knifing), you probably want to stray away from the melee proficiency. While it does knife faster, if your main objective isn’t to knife as many people as possible while playing multiplater, don’t use it.

———————————————————————–

Speed – Faster movement while primary weapon equipped.

Info: Moving faster isn’t a big deal, unless you are constantly moving. This proficiency should only be used my intermediate to advanced players. In game modes such as domination, with marathon and lightweight equipped, this perk adds to the deadly combo. If you’re more of a camper, don’t bother with the speed proficiency.

———————————————————————–

Damage – Shotgun shells do more damage.

Info: From the description, you should be able to tell who this proficiency is geared towards… shotgun users. The damage proficiency does not do anything if you use it for any other type of gun besides shotguns so don’t try. It does take a long time in order to unlock the mw3 damage proficiency, but this is what you should be using if you use a shotgun.
